So early 2015 basically consisted of stressing about the upcoming final exams in June.

exam season is the worst!
I turned 18 on the second day of the exams...
Evidently I couldn't really celebrate...
It was also my mom's birthday just when I finished,
so after my exams my parents and I went to Budapest for a week!
Matthias Chruch
Fishermen's Bastion
On the first day it was overcast, but still warm
.
We visited the citadel on Buda side, the buildings were so beautiful! It was strange being in a
country where I understood virtually nothing being said!
The next day we went to the market on Fovam tér(square), where you can get really cheap fruit and vegetables, vegan heaven!
I got an avocado and a box of strawberries for my lunch and they were so juicy and ripe!
St. Stephen's Cathedral
We went to an open-air live screening of an awards gala in the opera.
We relaxed there after a day of walking around, hopping on trams and buses!
The next day was so much hotter!
We went to Buda Castle and the view from the Funicular was amazing!
We could see Parliament and all of Pest side
from there!
National Gallery (and my mom)
After much deciding, my mum had suggested we go
to Sventendre, an old Mediterranean-style village, which was just outside Budapest.
We got a train straight there from the city.
It is a place with an interesting story. Apparently years ago migrants fled from eastern/southern Europe and settled here, hence the old, southern style of architecture.
There is many churches and also a Synagogue or two. And its a small village! So obviously the migrants were of diverse religions and backgrounds
Our other days were spent exploring the city, including spending a day on Margaret Island(my mum was delighted as her name is Margaret!), which has swimming pools and beautiful botanical gardens. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of our day there!
With regards being vegan, Budapest was amazing! IWe ate at vegan places most days, it was so nice! There is many falafel places all over the city. Food is very cheap in general, but the vegan places were especially inexpensive! I recall a meal for 3 being 12euro one night
It was very sad leaving Budapest, the week went so fast...
I will definitely be returnng to this city in the future, I hope to spend much longer there.
